One killed, two wounded in another Playa del Carmen nightclub shooting

PLAYA DEL CARMEN — According to proceso.com.mx, Municipal Police officers along with Mexican Navy elements arrested three alleged criminals in ​​Playa del Carmen, after a shooting that took place in the nightclub area, in which one person resulted dead and other two seriously injured on Sunday July 2.

On the morning of that day, a warning banner (narcomanta) suddenly popped up in this Mexican port, which is attributed to the Drug cartel “Jalisco Nueva Generación”, accusing that Mayor Cristina Torres is protecting some criminals.

It also said that: “This is the first warning to Raul Castro (a.k.a Xaulim), Wilberth Alejandro Cruz (a.k.a Grillo Huicho), Moises (a.k.a. Moy), as we already know that they are conceded our territory here, under the protection of Mayor Cristina Torres… You and your family are going to die soon”.

In response, the mayor declared: “The Municipal Preventive Police have conducted important detentions in Playa del Carmen that generated discomfort among the criminal groups”.

The night of Sunday July 03, municipal police and marine officers detained three criminals in relation with the crime that took place at the nightclub “La Vaquita” on Calle 12, in the heart of Playa del Carmen.

Around 10:00 p.m. three suspected sicarios arrived at that nightclub in order to execute the manager, but failed in their attempt. The assassins  opened fire against the crowd that were inside, injuring three people, one of whom died this morning at the IMSS hospital in Playa del Carmen.

The shooting generated terror and chaos among tourists there.

The sicario was arrested when law enforcement agents were patrolling that area.

This afternoon, in a press conference, Mayor Cristina Torres said the recent detentions in Playa del Carmen have caused discomfort among the criminals.

“We thank all citizens who trust and have reported various criminal incidents, because thanks to these timely reports we have been able to conduct important detentions that have generated discomfort in those who have damaged our community,” she said.
