JinkoSolar and Solarcentury have teamed up to develop a pair of Mexican ground-mount solar projects, including one in Yucatan. totaling 170 MW AC.  The projects were two of several awarded to bidders under Mexico’s first electricity auction, held in April.

JinkoSolar’s energy division will act as the investor and owner of the two projects, and Solarcentury will develop both sites. The 100 MW AC Viborillas project will be located in Jalisco state, while the 70 MW AC Cuncunul project will be located in Yucatan state.

Asier Aya, JinkoSolar’s managing director of the energy business for Latin America, comments, “Solarcentury has considerable experience of developing and delivering large-scale projects around the world, so the company was an ideal partner for us.”

After its success in the first Mexican auction, Solarcentury says it plans to also participate in the next upcoming auction. The company’s Mexico-based office, established in February 2014, is supported by its London headquarters.

“Partnering with JinkoSolar for these sizable projects is a fantastic win for our Latin American team, who worked around the clock to ensure that we could offer the most competitive and reliable project development opportunity to JinkoSolar,” says Peter Sermon, chief sales officer at Solarcentury.
