COZUMEL — The Mexican Triathlon Federation revealed details for what will be the biggest sporting event to be held in Cozumel, the “World Triathlon 2016”, which will involve more than eight thousand athletes from different countries around the world including Mexico.
Technical Secretary of the City Council, Ricardo Espinosa Freyre, stressed the importance of working in coordination with the Mexican Triathlon Federation, which will take place from 11 to 18 September.
Officials are planning the routes and schedules of competitions that will take place on roads south of the hotel zone, Rafael E. Melgar Avenue and Benito Juarez park, in order to allow the sports events to develop properly without hindering the traffic flow in the island.

The President of the Mexican Triathlon Federation, Jaime Baeza Canabal, said the group is committed to coordinate each of the competencies, to prevent the disruptions to tourist and local mobility.
He stressed that this World Cup triathlon will be very important, since the six best athletes in the world at the Olympics “Rio de Janeiro 2016” will participate.
Promotion for Cozumel
The final ITU World category “Elite” of the men’s and women branches, will be broadcast live through a national television network, which will give prominence to this competition that had taken place in Mexico since 2012 ; in addition to television stations in Australia, Indonesia and around the world in delayed transmission.
He stressed that this sporting event will have its opening ceremony on Tuesday 13 September with the parade of the delegations of the various participating nations, including Mexico, where the arrival of around 25,000 people are expected.
