QUERÉTARO — The Airbus Helicopters Querétaro plant has become a reference production center for the group, with significant growth prospects in the coming years, seeking to quadruple its production capacity.

On February 2016, the international company, Airbus Helicopters (formerly Eurocopter), which is a division of Airbus Group, a global leader in aeronautics, space and related services that provides civil and military helicopter solutions, opened a large factory in the Mexican state of Querétaro with an investment of $100 million USD.

According to Aviation week network, a multi-channel based publication that provides aviation industry services, decisions and marketplace, the French-German company said that Mexico is a prize sales territory. “It’s the most promising economy in the region, perhaps more promising than Brazil,” said President/CEO Lutz Bertling, naming Eurocopter’s other hot new growth market in world sales.

The groundbreaking ceremony of this new facility took place almost five years ago, in October 2011, during the IX Business Summit in Queretaro.

On July 16, 2015, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto along with the president of France, Francois Hollande, toured the Airbus Helicopters facility in Marsella, France, where they flew over the Calanques National Park. The aim of this state visit was to strengthen the relations and economic ties with the French government and Eurocopter.

During the opening ceremony, on February 2016, Peña Nieto stated Mexico does not have to close its borders or put obstacles to trade relations with foreign countries.

Finally, the Secretary of Transports and Communications, Gerardo Ruiz Esparza, said that 100 million dollars were invested in the construction of the new plant, where 200 direct jobs were generated.

Ruiz Esparza also estimated a total investment of 550 million dollars for this project in a 30 year period of time, and finished saying that this enterprise could attract other significant investments from company suppliers.
