Hospital and health infrastructure in Mérida, as well as the great advantages of choosing Yucatán as a second home, were the main topics promoted by the Secretariat of Tourism Promotion (SEFOTUR) during the second Destination Health, Canadian Medical Tourism Trade Show, which took place in Ottawa, Canada.
In addition, the same strategy to attract Medical and Wellness Tourism as well as more visitors to the state, will be displayed at the ninth World Medical Tourism and Global Healthcare Congress in Washington DC, from September 25th to the 28th, where an attendance of 3,000 participants from all over the world is expected. This is an unsurpassable oportunity to position the state as a World Class Health Tourism and Second Home Destination.
As part of the agenda in Canada, officials of the state agency, in coordination with Yucatan Medical Services and the Canadian Healthcare Council (CEHC) showcased the benefits that the Yucatan has to offer before hundreds of people, including medical and dental facilitators, potential future residents, etc.
The SEFOTUR delegation also toured the cities of Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal, where medical competitive features of the state of Yucatan along with travel packages with integrated medical and dental procedures were presented to representatives from universities, travel agencies, retirees associations, specialized health insurance centers and human resource managers from different companies.
The sessions were complemented by meetings with the Mexico Tourism Board of Toronto (CPTM), and the Office of Economic Affairs and Tourism of the Embassy of Spain in Ottawa, which aimed to strengthen coordinated efforts to promote the Yucatán and increase the interest of this important segment.
Finally, in the same context the delegation talked about the direct flight between Toronto and Merida, which was launched last year by WestJet arilines and is just about to start its second season in the fourth quarter of 2016.
