The Attorney General’s Office said it wasn’t able to locate Veracruz ex-Gov. Javier Duarte “despite the broad deployment of criminal investigation agents to arrest him.”
Javier Duarte stepped down as governor on Wednesday October 12, then disappeared.
The Attorney General’s Office said on Friday November 11 it wasn’t able to locate him “despite the broad deployment of criminal investigation agents to arrest him.”
Duarte belonged to the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party before he was stripped of his party rights in September.
The reward announcement came one day after a former governor who belonged to the opposition National Action Party turned himself in to face corruption charges.
Ex-Gov. Guillermo Padrés of the northern state of Sonora faces charges of organized crime, money laundering and use of illicitly obtained funds.
