COZUMEL, Q. Roo — Police and agents of the Attorney General’s Office are investigating the exterior of the building that will serve as a Court of Oral Trials in Cozumel, due to gunshots fired at dawn against the facade. At least two bullet holes were found, but no injuries were reported.
The report of these shots was made in the first minutes of Friday January 27, in the building that is located on Félix González Canto avenue, between Zamná and Andrés Quintana Roo avenues, a site where police surveillance and public lighting is missing.
That morning, members of the Attorney General’s Office expert services started an investigation in the vicinity of the building, which has not yet come into operation. When the shots were fired there was no one inside the building, so no injuries were recorded.
Elements of the Ministerial Police will be in charge of carrying out the corresponding investigations to find the people responsible for this criminal act.
It is important to mention that in this municipality of Cozumel, vandalism is often registered, from littering and burning of “palapas” to attempts of extortion and shootings.
