Cancun and Riviera Maya received five 2017 Travvy Awards at a ceremony held at Gotham Hall in New York, USA, which endorses the Mexican Caribbean as a modern, competitive destination of high excellence and quality for both national and international travelers.
The Riviera Maya received three gold awards in the categories:
- “Best Wedding Destination in Mexico and South America”
2. “Best Luxury Destination in Mexico”
3. “Best Tourism Office in Mexico”
Cancun won Gold in the category “Best Destination” and Silver in “Best Tourism Office in Mexico“.
The Travvy Awards are considered the Academy Awards of the tourism industry; they recognize the highest standards of quality and excellence in the travel world and honor companies, products, agencies and destinations for their outstanding achievements.

These awards are voted by more than 100 thousand travel agents around the world. The selections made by the agents reflect the suppliers and destinations which are considered the best in care and service to their customers.
Upon receiving the statuette, the Director of the Riviera Maya and Cozumel Tourism Promotion Trust, Darío Flota, said: “We are honored to be recognized with this award. This recognition is a testimony of the high quality services offered by our destination and the efforts made by our service providers.”
