All on toe for the first edition of “Cancun International Ballet Festival”

CANCUN — The Cancun International Ballet Festival is preparing for its first edition, which takes place on May 5-7 at the theater “Teatro de Cancún”.

This Festival will offer the opportunity to ballet students from Mexico and the world to live and learn in the friendly environment of the Mexican Caribbean, including students from dance schools such as the Master Ballet Academy, Miami City Ballet School, National School of Ballet of Cuba Fernando Alonso, Quenedit Ballet School, Rio de Janeiro Ballet Company, among others. The participants will have the opportunity to take master classes with renowned masters such as Alice Arja (Brazil), Krista King-Doherty (USA), Lourdes Arnau (Cuba), and more.

The inaugural function will be held on May 5, under the general direction of Lis Ríos Vega, accompanied by students of the dance school Laura Chuc.

The closing gala will be held on May 7, and will bring for the first time to Cancun great figures of international and national ballet, such as Juliet Doherty and Slawomir Wozniak (Phoenix Ballet), Adiarys Almeida (International Guest Artist), Taras Domitro, (Principal Dancer of San Francisco Ballet), Jorge Barani (Kentucky Ballet Theater), Blanca Ríos and Argenis Montalvo, (National Dance Company of Mexico), Eddna Alcaraz and Ricardo Díaz (Classical Dance Company of Q. Roo), among others.

The Festival aims to provide greater opportunities for participants to continue their technical and artistic development, as well as to diversify the arts and culture in the city of Cancun.

All functions will be open to the general public, which enjoy the classic and neoclassical expressions of dance. The tickets for the inauguration function and the closing gala are already on sale.
