Although the woman was transferred still alive to a hospital of the locality, minutes later she lost her life. After the assault, the security guards surrendered to the authorities the Canadian Michael Kalata, 33, presumed husband of the deceased woman.

At 7:15 a.m., the State Ministerial Police guard received a call from the private hospital Hospiten, located in Colony Supermanzana 10, on Bonampak Avenue, which reported on a lifeless woman, reportedly beaten to death.

The agents, accompanied by criminal experts, went to the hospital, where on arrival, the hospital officials informed them that the woman had died after being punched several times.

They said that moments before, the woman arrived at the hospital aboard an ambulance of the private company Life, who stated that around 05:22 in the morning they received a call from the emergency number 911 in which they were informed about a woman injured inside the hotel “Gran Caribe”, located at kilometer 11 of the boulevard Kukulcán, Hotel Zone.

When they arrived at the place, they met with the security of the hotel, who directed them to room 2127, where when they entered they found a female person lying face down, so when they found her she was barely breathing, the rescuers applied pulmonary resuscitation techniques for approximately 15 minutes.

Due to the severity of the patient, the paramedics decided to transfer her to hospital Hospiten where she died minutes later.

After the declarations and transfer of the body to the Forensic Medical Service, the authorities went to the hotel where after reviewing the room, security guards reported that the Tourist Police was given the person named Michael Kalata, 33 years old, from Canada, who was allegedly the aggressor of the woman.

The case was handed over to the Public Ministry of the Common Jurisdiction to initiate investigations.
