CANCUN — Francisco López, director of Tourism in Benito Juárez municipality, invited citizens to join the celebrations of the International Yoga Day, which will be held this Saturday, June 17, 2017, starting at 8:00 am in Playa Delfines, with a free session instructed by Vijaya Ganesha Korikkaru.
Likewise, “Frank” López mentioned that alliances will be sought with schools that teach yoga to make this a great event. Additionally, he remarked that the location of free transportation, which will depart from Kilometro Cero to Playa Delfines, has already been foreseen.
“We want this event to grow; more people participating and sending the message that Cancun is creating innovative things by delivering the word of peace and unity”, he explained.
Juan Pablo Aguirre, president of the The National Chamber of Restaurants and Prepared Food Industry in Cancun (Canirac), emphasized that this event will be of utmost importance to show that Cancun is more than just a sun-and-beach destination.
“We are going to kick off with everything we have so we can begin positioning Cancun, start offering complementary products to the sun-and-beach tourism, (…) in order to differentiate ourselves with a tourism that has more potential, that we go further, that we are no longer a Spring Break-only destination, that we are a place of culture, both artistic and culinary. I believe that this year has a lot of upcoming good things to offer, ranging from gastronomic to cultural exhibitions”, he said.
Lastly, Fernando Cervantes, director of the Institute of Culture, stressed that he is proud of being part of an event of such magnitude. Consequently, he invited the citizens of Benito Juarez and all the tourists to go to Playa Delfines this Saturday and participate in it.
“At the Cultural Arts Center, we have our own yoga class, so we will move it there; we want this to be something so massive that people say: ‘In Cancun, something good happens everyday”’
