Two tropical waves to bring rains this week to the Yucatan Peninsula

The National Water Commission (Conagua) says the arrival of two new tropical waves will maintain downpours of heavy rain throughout the week in Quintana Roo, Yucatán, and Campeche.

Forecasters predict heavy rains over the region, combined with the arrival of a new tropical wave, will worsen the weather in all the Yucatan Peninsula. The outlook for thunderstorms and strong wind gusts is not ruled out.

On Wednesday June 28, tropical maritime air and more pouring rains will make their way to the Peninsula. On Thursday June 29, the displacement of a new tropical wave on the south of the Yucatan Peninsula, along with the arrival of another tropical maritime air mass, could generate showers in northeast and southern Yucatan; southern Campeche, and southern Quintana Roo.

As for the highest temperatures, it is estimated that they will reach up to 33ºC to 37ºC for Yucatan, Campeche and Quintana Roo on both Tuesday and Wednesday. However, on Thursday, a slight increase is expected, ranging from 34ºC to 38ºC for Yucatan and Campeche; and for Quintana Roo, a temperature range between 35ºC to 39ºC.
