He pointed out that with the opening of new businesses, the unemployment rate will fall further in the state.

He said that from January to May Yucatan generated 4,700 jobs, while last year, at the same time, it had generated 4,000 jobs.

The state official also said that from January to May there have been 600 work accidents, when last year at the same time there had been 550 mishaps in the workplace.

In relation to those who died in industrial accidents, the state official remarked that there were three, but last year there were five.

He pointed out that thanks to the safety measures implemented by the state and also the private sector, the fatal accidents of workers have diminished.

Castillo Ruz recalled that last year 13,000 jobs were created and he hopes to exceed the goal this year.

He explained that in Yucatan the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has more than 320 thousand affiliated workers, which indicates the level of formal workers that the state has.
