Surfing Festival 2017 in Cozumel set for July 28 to 30

COZUMEL, Q.Roo — From July 28 to 30, Cozumel will receive more than 40 surfers from different municipalities of the state in the statewide “Quintana Roo Surfing Championship 2017″ festival. The activities are part of  “Cozumel 500 years: Encounter between two cultures” program, according to a statement issued by the city’s government,

The event is in coordination with different agencies, directorates and sub-directorates, which will allow tourists and locals to live a different type of summer; people will be able to enjoy the festival together as a family, playing sports and contributing to environmental awareness.

On Friday, July 28, it will begin with the “Surf and Rock Festival”, in Benito Juárez Park, where there will be an opening presentation of music groups such as “Lost Acapulco”, “Los Cavernarios”, and “Rikita Banana”. Additionally, all the events programmed for this surfing festival will be free-entrance.

Subsequently, on Saturday July 29 there will be various activities. At 9 in the morning, a beach clean-up will take place departing from the Sports Directorate. Anyone who wants to participate, can go and join the group in the beach Chen River (Río Chen), which is in the beach clean-up zone.

After this activity, at 10 in the morning the “Beach Volleyball Festival” will start. Likewise, at 10 AM, cyclists can go to the Palacio Municipal and depart from there to Playa Chen Río.
