MERIDA — Ariel Francisco Aldecua Kuk, Attorney General of Yucatan, held a meeting with the Legal Attaché of the United States Embassy in Mexico and representative of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in southeast Mexico, Fernando Gutiérrez R., on the occasion of the visit that the American diplomat made to the attorney general’s headquarters in Merida.
Aldecua Kuk highlighted the coordinated work that has been carried out between the United States authorities and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), so that the members of the Yucatan agency receive various trainings that allow them to have more and better tools that help them to perform better as operators of the New Criminal Justice and Accusatory System.
He also highlighted the professionalization actions that the FGE collaborators have received from support programs derived from the Merida Initiative in forensic investigation.
“We are aware of the demands of the New System; therefore, the training, collaboration and support agreements that we can make with the US authorities, on this occasion with the FBI, are always welcome, so that our elements are more prepared and are able to carry out their daily work better, said the state prosecutor.
Fernando Gutiérrez R., the U.S. embassy official, reiterated the willingness of the FBI and the authorities of the neighboring country to continue to strengthen the working relationship with the Yucatecan office.
He indicated that the links and communication between the two corporations, FGE and FBI, will maintain a dynamic of continuous strengthening, since the American elements also obtain experience and good practices that are replicable as a result of the interaction in the offered training.
