The events took place at the docks of Arroyo Grande, where the legal representative of the environmental organization Marea Azul, Lourdes Rodríguez Badilla was accompanied by elements of the Federal Environmental Police. These agents, when carrying out the verification on the riverboats, found a vat containing four white turtles. Later, in a refrigerator, they discovered and rescued four more turtles.

The white turtle specimens were placed in the custody of the environmental authorities for their safekeeping and forthcoming release into their natural habitat.
