MERIDA — Elina Garanca, considered one of the most outstanding mezzo-sopranos in the world, will offer a concert in Mérida on January 19, 2018, which organizers call a national and international event for the acclaimed opera singer.
The concert will be offered at the Peón Contreras Theater thanks to the efforts made by Margarita Molina Zaldívar, president of the Patronage of the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra (OSY).
The Orchestra will share the stage with the performer in the recital, under the baton of the invited conductor Constantine Orbelian, who usually accompanies the performer in her concerts.
The repertoire includes songs from Tchaikovsky’s “The Maid of Orleans”, Saint-Saens’s “Samson and Dalila”, Cilea’s “Adriana Lecouvreur,” as well as passages from the “Barberillo de Lavapiés” by Francisco Asenjo Barbieri and “El Barquillero” by Ruperto Chapí y Lorente.
She will also delight the audience with passages from the opera that placed her in the international stage, “Carmen” by Bizet, from which she will perform the famous songs “Habanera”, “Seguidille” and “Chanson Boheme”.
Ticket sales will begin on Tuesday, November 7, at the Peón Contreras Theater box office and at www.sinfonicadeyucatan.com.mx. The prices in pesos are: $ 500, $ 800, $ 1,500, $ 1,900 and $ 2,300.
The successful and outstanding performer born in Latvia has performed in the most important venues in the world such as the New York MET, Covent Garden London, Vienna Opera House, Salzburg Festival and Italy, among others.
Elina has become one of the international stars of music through her performances as protagonist in theaters and symphony orchestras around the world. She has captured popular acceptance and criticism because of her beautiful voice, musical intelligence and beauty.
