MERIDA — The second edition of the “Expo Redescubre Yucatan” 2017 will take place on November 3rd, 4th and 5th at the Yucatan Siglo XXI Convention Center, to promote the tourist sites and attractions located in the interior of the state, stated at a press conference Dafne López Martínez, Cultur Patronage director, on Tuesday October 10. At the meeting also were Saúl Ancona Salazar, State Secretary of Tourism Promotion, and other officials.
Rediscover Yucatan 2017 will offer gastronomy and popular dishes, such as Doña Evelia’s motuleños eggs and the Esquites of Parque de las Américas. In addition to the nearly 50 participants already invited, they already launched a call that expires on October 20 for those who wish to participate with some service or product related to the expo.
In the program there are also lectures, trova (regional music), food samples, a cell phone application of Rediscover Yucatan for smartphones, vaquería (regional spectacle of dance and music) with orchestra jaranera, culinary competitions and representations of the Mayan Warriors of Yaxuná, so that visitors, tourists and Yucatecans learn about the attractions offered in the interior of the state.
Carlos Moreno Magaña, mayor of the municipality of Kanasín, invited the attendees to taste the Nohoch Pib 2017 (“Nohoch”: Mayan word that means big, huge; “Pib”: Mayan word that means baked underground), a “mucbipollo” (traditional Yucatecan Day of the Dead meal, also called “Pib”) of 150 linear meters for more than four thousand people, which will be ready on November 4 from mid-day.
Among the special guests are included Memo Aponte, blogger who will give a conference on Disney and Tourism; Ileana Pérez, from Alltournative, will offer an talk on ecotourism; and Alberto Cervera, CEO of a tourism services company with European destinations, will talk about logistics and market strategy.
