Due to the Quintana Roo events, Meridanos emptied their security boxes at the companies First National Security, Stonewall and City Safe…
MERIDA – As reported previously here on TYT, at the beginning of the week security-deposit companies in Merida suffered a massive withdrawal of the items that they kept safe, as a result of related issues in Cancun with First National Security.
Now these businesses hope that their clients will soon return to deposit their assets, and with that bring back the confidence in this type of business.
For its part, the Ministry of Public Security reported that since Sunday October 29 and until Tuesday October 31, a surveillance operation was implemented outside of this type of business in Merida, as a preventive measure related to the increase of users who went to these establishments to withdraw their items. Authorities stressed that there were no incidents.
In addition to the effects to First National Security, located in Prolongacion Paseo de Montejo, there was an intense movement in the other companies like Stonewall, located in the Jose Diaz Bolio avenue on 21st Street, of the colony Mexico Oriente, and City Safe, located on 18th Street at 21st Street, of Mexico colony.
Sources close to these businesses indicated that it was explained to the clients that the situation in Merida is very different from the one in Cancún, but even so the majority decided to take away their belongings as a preventive measure, in face of the possibility of an action like the one in Cancun. There, federal authorities seized hundreds of boxes in relation to a narcotics investigation.
