There has been an increase in robberies of houses after problems with security-deposit companies….

MERIDA — On Sunday November 5, thieves stole a safe-box from a home located in the San Antonio Cinta colony, which contained more than $200 thousand pesos ($10,438 USD) in cash, jewelry and fine watches. This incident, according to the complainant, is due to the increase in robberies of homes in the city’s northern area in recent days. The robberies have been happening mostly in homes of those who went to withdraw their assets from security boxes.

José N, alleged victim of theft, filed the corresponding complaint with the Public Ministry Agency located in Cordemex. He said that around 2:30 pm on Sunday he went out with his family and when he returned at night, he noticed that the electric gate and the main gate were open.

Thinking that the thieves could still be inside the building, he asked for help from agents of the Public Security Secretariat who were passing through the place, and upon entering they noticed that the kitchen window was forced.

When they checked the place they discovered that the thieves took the safe-box that was in the main room.
