Tourists and tenants have been complaining about two businesses located on the restaurant area of the Lucas de Gálvez Market second floor, El Ejidatario and La Ejidataria, it has been said that these two eateries have been scamming dozens of people, who have publicly complained, and the municipal authorities haven’t done anything about it.
“Many people have complained about the ridiculously high prices that these restaurants charge, and they’ve also declared that the food is in bad condition and that the place looks dirty and dangerously insanitary”, expressed one of the tenants.
The same Lucas de Galvez tenant (who prefers to remain anonymous), stated that a family that went to El Ejidatario was very upset since they were charged 400 hundred pesos for four orders of eggs and four sodas, which commonly costs 40 pesos per order including the soda.
Another tenant said that there are people, who they call “piratas”, that take tourists to those specific restaurants and receive a “commission” for each person, but that “commission” comes from an unfair increase of prices to the customer, not from the restaurant owner’s pocket, so it is in fact a theft.
Furthermore, the place have raised suspicions that something else (that is not food) is sold on the spot, this because of the constant presence of drunkards and drug addicts who are always screaming, yelling (and sometimes even urinating) in the market’s corridors.
The very same people that works inside the market accept that many of the food businesses there operate under the poorest hygienic conditions, and that situation obviously harms all the citizens that one way or another make their living inside the premises of Mercado Lucas de Galvez.
