In the first months of 2018 several industrial plants are opening in the Yucatan, such as Empaques Nova that was recently inaugurated on Monday Jan. 15th in Umán, according to the federal secretary of Economy, Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal.
Ernesto Herrera Novelo, Secretary of Economic Development in Yucatan, reported that Empaques Nova is a paper and corrugated cardboard processor that was installed with an investment of 100 million pesos (5.3 million USD), and currently generates 500 direct jobs.
Herrera Novelo said that it is expected that the company Kekén will inaugurate its feed plant on April, with an investment of close to 60 million dollars (3.2 million USD), and that during the first quarter of this year the company Bachoco will also be opening a new facilities that will double its production capacity in the state.
The State Secretary of Economic Development recalled that during this administration Bachoco has invested 3.2 billion pesos, including fertile egg farms in Tekax and Uman, plus an incubator with robotics technology that helps to produce one million chickens per week, and a new food processing plant.
When listing last year’s achievements, Herrera Novelo said that from January to November, 18,502 jobs were generated, for a total of 71,505 jobs created during his administration.
He also mentioned that in the last five years, the state of Yucatan has received more than 1 billion US dollars in foreign direct investment.
