Cancun airport registers more than 2,200 flights in just four days

The holiday season of Holy Week and Easter began with more than 2,200 operations in just four days at the International Airport of Cancun.

According to information from Aeropuertos del Sureste (ASUR), Saturday March 24 had the largest number of operations, when 649 flights were registered, 186 national and 463 international flights.

In an interview, the president of the Association of Hotels of Cancun and Puerto Morelos, Roberto Cintrón Gómez, said that the Semana Santa and Easter Week vacation period began with an average occupancy of over 90% in Cancun and the Mayan Riviera and  100% occupation is expected.

Many lodging centers that register a total sold out, and were forced to transfer some of their guests to other hotels.

The businessman noted that there is significant movement at the international airport in Cancun, and it is the same thing for the bus terminals and roads that connect the destination with the Yucatan Peninsula.

At the air terminal, the concessionaire Asur announced that from Friday 23 to Monday 26; a total of 2,242 operations were registered, of which 1,517 were international flights.

On Friday the barrier of 500 operations was exceeded with a total of 508, the figure on Saturday was 649, and on Sunday 577 and on Monday the number went down to 508 flights again.
