More investment is coming to Yucatan

Large companies have begun to invest and generate jobs thanks to the conditions that Yucatan provides, says Victor Caballero Durán.

“Without a doubt, the climate of peace and tranquility in Yucatan is what gives entrepreneurs confidence. People from Merida have benefited from the generation of jobs and the economic development that the investment has generated” he said.

“The Leoni plant, dedicated to the production and export of harnesses for the automotive industry, has generated more than 2,600 jobs and continues to expand by offering vacancies”, said a statement.

Another industry that successfully carries out its operations is the plant of the Yucatecan brewery of Grupo Modelo, which opened in May 2017. The Cervecería Yucateca closed its doors in August 2002 during the government of PAN’s governor Patricio Patrón Laviada, and that closure put an end to almost 100 years of history and tradition. In 2015, the firm announced its return to Yucatan, in the community of Hunucmá, and the plant was inaugurated by Governor Rolando Zapata Bello.

All these industries have set the tone for other companies to come to Yucatan. In addition, the development of other projects such as the International Congress Center or the Palacio de la Música have succeeded in complementing the economic impulse and making the city more attractive for national and international investors.

According to information from the State Government, in the last year the Leoni Wiring Systems automotive harness plant, the Grupo Modelo’s Yucatecan Brewery, the Envases Universales’s aluminum can plant, and the corrugated cardboard factory of the Yucatecan company Empaques Nova, were inaugurated as a result of the investments that reached Yucatan.
