The Association of Travel Agencies demands to take measures against Quintana Roo’s bad image

The Mexican Association of Travel Agencies called for urgent measures to reverse the bad image of the state of Quintana Roo and save this tourist region from a crisis.

The federal secretary of Tourism, Enrique de la Madrid, considered “cynical and hypocritical” last month’s travel alerts, issued by the United States Department of State.

Quintana Roo’s state government issued a bulletin in which it ensured that all services were running smoothly, but there was a large mobilization of the Army and the Federal Police at the maritime installations in Playa del Carmen and Cozumel.

With the help of K-9 units, law enforcement agents and members of the Mexican Navey are inspecting all the ferries before the entry of passengers is allowed.

Even President Enrique Peña Nieto made a lightning trip to Playa del Carmen last month and participated in an environmental event.
