According to preliminary figures released by the National Statistics Institute (INEGI) issued on Monday April 30, say México’s economy expanded 1.1% in the January-March period compared to the previous quarter, mainly driven by the services sector.
Divided by components, tertiary activities (services) grew by 1.2%, primary by 0.8% and secondary by 0.7% from the previous quarter, informed the INEGI in a report.
According to original figures, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the second Latin American economy grew by 1.2 % in the first quarter against the same period of the previous year.
The Government estimates that by 2018, the GDP will show an expansion in the range of 2.0-3.0%.
The final GDP figures for the first quarter will be published on May 23, 2018.
