According to KULR-8 News Staff, a family from Malta, Montana, on vacation in Cancun has had their dream vacation come to a terrible conclusion.

The posting on gofundme, of Sunday, May 20, states that CJ and Karey arrived in Cancun, Quintana Roo for what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. Just hours after arriving CJ dove off of a dock into the water, breaking several vertebrae in his neck and upper back.

CJ is in ICU and will have to have surgery to stabilize his spine before he’ll be able to return to the US. The family hopes CJ will be able to continue his recovery in Houston.

Malta is a city in the county seat of Phillips, Montana, United States, located at the intersection of U.S. Routes 2 and 191 near the Canada border.

CJ lists his occupation as self-employed on his Facebook page. Both CJ and Karey list themselves as having studied at MSU Billings.

CJ’s Billings-based cousin started the gofundme page to help alleviate some of the family’s financial burden due to travel and loss of work.
