Just two kilometers from Valladolid, Yucatan, there is an ecological camp in which one of the attractions is to stay inside a Volkswagen Beetle (vocho).
Each of the cars has space inside to put the suitcases of travelers and a comfortable bed for two people inside, compartments for personal belongings of guests, a fan so that nobody gets hot at night, curtains to preserve privacy and a place ready to see the stars at night.
When you wake up, you can have breakfast outside of your “Vocho-Room”, at a small table. And when you finish you can go hiking through ancient Mayan roads. You can go swimming in one of the several cenotes of the region, visit abandoned haciendas in the middle of the jungle, or take a walk along the cobble stone streets of Valladolid.
Chichén-Itzá is very close but if you do not want to leave this comfortable Eco Camping site, you can swim in the local pool, get a “fish.pedicure”, try local food or have a BBQ on a grill also adapted inside a Volkswagen “Vocho”.
This “vocho-room” hosting facility is called Eco Camping Valladolid and aims to provide lodging services to adventurous travelers or those who are tired of conventional accommodations and of the “All Inclusive” concept.
Besides the “vochos” to stay, Eco Camping Valladolid also boasts Volkswagen mini-buses (better known as “Combis” in Mexico) totally adapted with all the features necessary for a family of four to spend a quiet night in the middle of the jungle.
For those who do not want to sleep inside a car they can rent a tent.
It is also important to mention that here everything is ecological, the vochos were donations, electricity is acquired through solar panels, and the building materials are biodegradable.
