MÉRIDA, Yuc.- More than 200 days have passed since the Electoral and Citizen Participation Institute of the State of Yucatan (Iepac) created the Temporary Committee for the Organization of Debates and 159 days since it was installed to organize the first meeting between the candidates to the governorship of Yucatan, in search of a different format to make debates more dynamic.

The president counselor of the Temporal Commission of the Country, Alejandra Pacheco Puente, highlighted the work carried out in the organization of the meeting and in the design of a format that breaks with the “traditional model” seeking to serve the citizens and let them know in a more direct way about the campaign proposals.

The population participated by suggesting questions for the four contenders.

The first debate of the candidates for the governorship of Yucatan will take place on Wednesday May 2 at 8:00 pm and will be boradcasted on television by SIPSE Group, on six on local radio stations and on the internet. There will be a sign language interpreter and a Maya language translator.

The Iepac already signed with the National Chamber of the Radio and Television Industry (CIRT) the agreement for the transmission of the debates to the governorship. The second will be on June 10, in a municipality yet to be defined.
