MUSEUM OF THE CITY
We recommend you to visit the Museum of the City of Mérida, inaugurated on June 29, 2007, which is distinguished by having testimonies of the history and culture of the city, such as books and publications featuring diverse topics that range from ancient Maya culture to the current works ongoing in the city of Mérida and the state of Yucatan.
In the rooms of the enclosure you will find collections of prehispanic pieces and Maya, colonial and contemporary objects. In addition, it has an important bibliographic and hemerographic archive.

GREAT MUSEUM OF THE MAYAN WORLD
Another of the museums that are also worth visiting is the Great Museum of the Maya World, since in addition to boasting an impressive modern architecture, you can know more about the archeology, anthropology, ethnology, history and customs of the Maya world in the region.
The museum houses a collection of more than 160 pieces, including textiles and religious objects of the Maya, as well as engravings, books, historical documents, artistic and religious works from the viceregal period.
One of the great attractions of this museum is the Mayamax room, where you can find a large semi circular screen where spectacular film productions and short films are projected.
You can take a break at their restaurant-bar where you can taste regional and international cuisine.

MUSEUM OF THE YUCATECAN SONG
For music lovers, this is the ideal place to visit. It is a museographic enclosure that was founded in 1978 with the mission of preserving, rescuing and promoting Yucatecan music.
Established in an old mansion of colonial style built in the late nineteenth century, this museum is located right in the heart of Merid. This place was erected in honor of the top representatives of the Yucatan trova, such as Ricardo Palmerín, Guty Cárdenas, Cirilo Baqueiro Preve ” Chancil “, Ermilo Padrón López, Juan Acereto and Pastor Cervera.
Here, you can admire oil portraits of composers, performers, poets or promoters of Yucatecan music; relics, prehispanic instruments, afrocubano and trova yucateca, as well as some personal objects of composers such as letters, manuscripts and instruments.
The most interesting thing is that you can buy vynil records, CDs, videos, songbooks, postcards or even cassettes that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.
