Lydia McLaughlin is a successful fashion editor, an entrepreneur and a television personality born on Mach 10, 1981, in St John’ Canada. She is the granddaughter of a Canadian media mogul Geoff Stirling who was the founder of Canada’s first ever 24 hours television station (NTV). She became very popular when she appeared on Bravo’s ‘The Real Housewives of Orange County’ Season 8. She later made a return to the show for its Season 12 and eventually left at the end of the season.

Lydia McLaughlin nee Stirling is Canadian by birth and was raised in Newfoundland by her parents Scott and Judy Stirling. Lydia was a child star having grown up around media professionals and featured on kiddies show, Children’s Checkpoint. She attended the University of San Diego and graduated in 2003. Real Housewives of Orange County, Season 8
Lydia made her debut on the show in Season 8 and didn’t feature in subsequent seasons until her return in Season 12. Her performance was lauded by viewers for her real and humble disposition. The show which is often characterized by outlandish displays of wealth by cast mates was re-defined by her performance. Viewers found her to be a breath of fresh air because she appeared more real and modest. This successful entrepreneur and mother of two (as at that time) stated during an interview that she had to leave the show to have her third child and to also focus on other family related issues. She also expressed her shock at the relentless drama behind-the-scenes and the constant bickering between the cast mates and their kids during the show. For a woman with a quiet disposition, she found all of the drama too much for her to handle.
Real Housewives of Orange County, Season 12
After her return to the show in Season 12, Lydia announced in February 2018 that she was quitting the show for the second time. She made the decision to quit after a unanimous family vote over some of the negativities trailing the show and according to her, she also needed to concentrate on running the Nobleman Magazine which she co-founded with her husband Doug McLaughlin. The 36 year old after quitting later admitted that she never had the intention of chasing a full-time career on the ‘Bravo Series’ and felt the need to quit even though it was a tough decision for her to make. There are suggestions that she may never return to the Bravo Series ever again.
Conflicts with Meghan King Edmonds in Season 12
At ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ Season 12, Lydia had a disagreement with co-cast mate, Meghan King Edmonds, over what she termed an apparent disrespect for her friend Mystic Michaela by Lydia. Meghan claims Lydia didn’t treat the psychic medium with respect and questioned her Christian views in public. Lydia insists she treated Michaela with respect as she would treat any other human being but just didn’t want to have anything to do with Michaela’s Psychic practices. The pair eventually reached an understanding and made up.

There were speculations at the time that she exited the Housewives series because certain happenings and practices on the show were at variance with her spiritual values. According to the Canadians, those views were wrong about her and she chose to hold onto her beliefs because she like everybody else needed redemption.
