Thousands of people concluded their summer vacations on the coasts of Yucatan, mainly in Progreso.
Early in the morning on Sunday August 20, they began to arrive at the port to be able to enjoy a pleasant time with their families and friends.
Shortly after noon, there was a considerable number of people walking on the beach, relaxing under the umbrellas or eating fish, snacks and sweets from the region underneath the palapas, having a soda or beer.
The atmosphere in the place got better during the day, since musical groups and drummers started playing in several points of the pier.
The director of tourism of the port, Cintia Gómez, declared that, according to the reports of entrance of the Municipal Police, the affluence during all the holiday season in Progreso, came up to a total of 400 thousand visitors between local, national and international.
On August 19, an estimated of 100,000 people arrived on the beaches of Yucatan, (Progreso, El Corchito, Chicxulub, Chelem and Chuburná), according to an official report issued by municipal authorities. This is proof that the municipality of Progreso has the bases to attract thousands of visitors each holiday season.
Cintia Gómez mentioned that restaurants and hotels also reported good figures.
