“Around 700 participants from 16 states of the country are expected to participate in the National Indigenous Sports Meeting, which in its tenth version will take place from Wednesday 26 to Saturday 29 September, in the city of San Francisco de Campeche”, reported Jorge Hurtado, head of the Sports Institute of that state.
“This is the tenth edition of the National Indigenous Sports Meeting and for Campeche it is the third time that we have the honor of organize. It is a very beautiful event because these ethnic groups from different Mexican states participate with their traditional clothes and that makes it very visually attractive and colorful” he said during an interview.
From the 26th to the 29th of September, the event will feature:
- 3 × 3 basketball and volleyball in the fields of the Sports Unit 20 de Noviembre
- Football, in the fields of Corsarios 2000
- Track and Field at the Malecón de Campeche
- Cross-country race, in the extreme sports Campeche´s new field.
Jorge Hurtado added that the participating delegations from Chiapas, Chihuahua, State of Mexico, Colima, Durango, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Nuevo Leon, Oaxaca, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Veracruz and Yucatán, among others have already arrived in Campeche.
“Once the delegations arrive in Campeche, the organizing committee takes care of all the expenses, with the support of Conade and the government of Campeche, represented by governor Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas,” explained Hurtado Moreno.
The first, second and third places in each discipline will be awarded with their respective gold, silver and bronze medals.
