Due to the high levels of safety and good quality of life in the state, residents of the United States and Canada reiterated that Yucatan, and especially its coast, remains an ideal alternative to live during the winter season outside their countries.

During a meeting with the head of the General Coordination of State Government Advisors, Eric Rubio Barthell, foreign visitors expressed their positive perception of the territory and learned about part of the work that is being done, jointly by authorities and society, to safeguard the peace and tranquility of those who live here.

“Some of the actions that we made known were the increase in surveillance in the coastal area, as well as the attention in English at the emergency number 9-1-1 and in the Public Prosecutor’s Office (Oficina del Ministerio Público)” .

Rubio Barthell recalled that they have at their disposal the Foreigner Attention Window, which is the result of a coordinated work between various agencies of the state administration, such as the Secretaries of Public Security (SSP) and of Urban Development and Environment (Seduma), as well as the State Attorney General’s Office (PGE), together with the authorities of the coastal municipalities.

Municipal authorities are also improving other basic services such as security, public lighting, garbage collection and beach recovery.

The delegation, consisting of Bob Rentz, Speranza Avram, David Bloch, Karen Clouthier and David Nevers, recognized the efforts of the state and municipal agencies. He also thanked the tasks of each of the participating institutions, which have been reflected in a considerable decline in cases of home-room robbery, as well as in the response time in the service reports.
