The president of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce (Confederación de Cámaras Nacionales de Comercio: Concanaco), Juan Manuel Lopez Campos, announced that as of this month the cost of electricity rates of medium and high voltage will gradually reduce between 12 and 17 percent.
“The biggest discount will be in the month of December, and starting in January there will be a new formula to calculate the rates,” he said.
In a press conference, the business leader said that this measure is due to the adjustment made by authorities in the matter with the purpose of neutralizing tariffs, so that the next federal administration makes the necessary adjustments to achieve this objective.
Lopez Campos said that despite these adjustments and reductions, there is concern among the business sector because the incoming Federal Government intends to “freeze” tariffs, which are currently very high, which could affect productivity in the industrial sector.
For this reason, he mentioned that the autonomy of the states such as the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) will be respected.
The president of the Concanaco announced that before the end of 2018 the first 84 actions to provide solar panels will be implemented, in order to support the energy supply. This project will come into force in a first phase in two states, Veracruz and Yucatán.
“It is a prototype that we are testing with the Secretariat of Energy nationwide and these two states were elected to test it. We intend to make this a massive program by 2019 for the benefit of SMEs, ” Juan Manuel Lopez Campos concluded.
