The technical secretary of Planning of the government of the State, Rafael Hernández Kotasek, revealed today that he requested to the federal government a modification in the line of the Mayan Train in the route of Yucatan so that this service arrives at the port of Progreso, by its logistical importance and next development of the Special Economic Zone.

He said that this approach to the expansion of the Maya Train in Yucatan territory has already been proposed along with two other state secretaries, but they have not answered it if it is viable or not.

Rafael Hernández Kotasek, technical secretary of Planning of the government of the State, requests the federal government that the Mayan Train arrive in Progreso, leaving out of the Maxcanú Railway Operations Center  in direct route to the main Yucatecan port. He also requested that the number of stations in the State be increased from 3 to 5 to boost the economy in a greater number of towns with this railway project.

Maestro Hernández does not have data on how much this extension of the new line would cost. However, he considered that it would be costly because they would have to buy land for the right of way and build that new section of rails.
