PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX.- Two individuals entered the facilities of the Generations Riviera Maya All Inclusive Resort, which is located on the Cancun – Playa del Carmen federal highway, and managed to steal $1,658,000 pesos (approximatelly 83,00 USD), in cash from the company’s payroll.
The incident took place on Saturday Feb 9th, around 11 o’clock in the morning, when it was reported to the emergency services that two people dressed as hotel maintenance workers entered the premises aboard two Italica motorcycles, both were armed and went directly to seize the payroll, so it was obvious that they knew the drill.
Once in possession of the cash, they fled the scene by foot, leaving the motorcycles abandoned inside the resort.
Municipal Police officers, two agents of the Ministerial Police as well as Federal Police and expert investigators arrived to the Generations Riviera Maya All Inclusive Resort, to conduct the proper investigations, interrogating some of the employees who witnessed the events.
Narciso D. C., 39, administration worker, says that he witnessed the incident, but he got too nervous with the guns, and he could not notice the physical characteristics of the thieves. Bernardo G.G., 29 years old, a construction worker from Chiapas, also witnessed the events.
It should be noted that Generations Riviera Maya belongs to the Lomas Travel Group, a company that also owns the Nickelodeon Hotel (currently under construction), the El Dorado Hotels, the MayAir airline, the Lomastel telecommunications company, among others.
