Immediate response from State Public Security in Motul, Yucatán

MOTUL, Yucatan.- One police officer was injured and two allegedly kidnapped, in situation that ended up in a gun battle between Public Security (SSP) officers and a group of heavily armed criminals.

The events were recorded on Calle 33rd between 10 and 12 of the Santiago Castillo neighborhood in Motul.

A strong police operation was implemented, and armed Public Security agents are now looking for the criminals in the rural areas of the municipality of Motul.

Four suspects that according to witnesses carry a large number of tattoos on their bodies. As it was known, the alleged criminals were “firing guns” in the area, and the neighbors reported the detonations to the Municipal Police .

Public Security agents responded to the call of the settlers and discussed with the armed people, in the middle of the discussion one of the criminals hit an SSP element with the hilt of a gun and they take the mount to other police elements.

Hours later, Commander Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda landed on Motul by helicopter. Saidén as Commander in Chief of the SSP took control of the investigation.

And after this really unusual incident in Yucatán, in which alleged armed criminals confronted municipal and state police, the Ministry of Public Security has already reported three people arrested, and the search is still on going in rural areas of the Motul municipality.
