ROME (EFE).- Pope Francis criticized on Feb. 20th those who accuse the Catholic Church and said they are friends of the devil because “they destroy the Church with their tongue”, something he considers to be “in style”.
“You cannot live your whole life accusing, accusing, accusing the Church. (…) The one whom the Bible calls the great accuser who is he? It is the devil. Those who spend their lives accusing, accusing, accusing, I will not say they are his children, because the devil has none, but friends, cousins, relatives of the devil,” said Francis.
“We must point out the defects to be corrected, At the moment a defect is pointed out, the defect is denounced, but the Church has to be loved. Without love, that’s from the devil”. He added.
The Argentine Pope made these reflections spontaneously during a meeting he held on Wednesday Feb. 20 in the Vatican with people of the archdiocese of Benevento, moments before holding a general audience in the Paul VI Hall.
Jorge Bergoglio or Pope Francis, defends the value of forgiveness and referres to the figure of Padre Pio to praise the love he always had for the Catholic Church, despite “all the problems it has.“
“Those who love the Church know how to forgive, because they know that him-herself are sinners who need God’s forgiveness. He knows how to fix things, because the Lord wants to fix things well, but always with forgiveness” Pope Francis concluded.
