The Ministry of Public Security of Yucatan finally arrested six men hiding in the woods of Motul. The suspects were operating high caliber weapons and attacked a State Police officer and fired at the others who arrived as back up, in the municipality of Motul.

The operation was carried out in conjunction with the Army and the Federal Police and finally culminated with the transfer of the suspects, whose identities have not yet been revealed. However, it is known they are part of a sicario cell, operating in Cancun.

“I want to highlight this operation, coordinated by local and federal security forces and stress that people who come from another state to commit a crime and break the law, will be captured… we are not going to allow it.” Said Luis Ojeda, head of the state’s security.

He also explained that one more suspect is still being sought, but he will be captured and taken into custody. “We are working on it, there is another person at large… we will get him”. He concluded.

The SSP of Yucatan informed through its official Twitter profile that the detainees are being charge of multiple crimes amongst them the possession and firing of firearms.
