On Saturday March 2nd, an armed attack left three people dead and one wounded in two different scenarios: Bonampak Avenue and kilometer 2.5 of Av. Kukulcan, right in th heart of Cancun’s hotel zone. Av. Kukulcan remained closed for an hour while the ministerial authorities carried out the corresponding proceedings.

With the official data available so far and a video that has been made public, it is now known that the assault began around 1 pm at the intersection of Bonampak and Nichupté Avenues when a subject descended from a silver Toyota Corolla vehicle, with Quintana Roo license plates UUU215C, to attack with a long gun a white GMC truck, double cabin, with Jalisco license plates.

A car chase began, and the vehicles entered the Hotel Zone, as the truck driver was trying to evade the aggressors, and at kilometer 2.5, they stopped to ask help from the police base located at that point.

In the end, the balance of the attack is three people dead and one wounded, who gave his statement to the state and federal authorities.

No arrests have been made so far in relation to this incident.
