News Yucatán / MÉRIDA.- The construction companies are beginning to feel the ravages of the cancellation, of the subsidy for social housing so the dismissals of masons begin to occur in the state. Carlos Medina Rodríguez, national president of the National Chamber of the Development and Housing Promotion Industry, Canadevy, said the dismissals have started in the companies because there is no work for construction of social housing.
A few days ago the local president of the Canadevy explained that each house of social interest that is built generates five direct jobs and seven indirect jobs, so the impact on employment in the region will be severe, since 40 thousand working spaces will be lost. Work and housing developers, pay interests to the banks that granted them loans to finance their works. He explained that sectors such as suppliers of cement, concrete, sand, vault, aluminum, carpentry, electricians, gardeners, plumbers, hardware stores, among others, will also be affected.
Medina Rodriguez said that the construction industry generates approximately 3 million direct and indirect jobs nationwide and he estimates that for the social part between 500 and 600 thousand direct and indirect jobs at the national level. The cancelation of the subsidy Conavi has paralyzed the construction of new social housing because there are in existence 58 thousand. In Yucatan there are around 4 thousand houses, nation-wide, more than 25 thousand families have been able to obtain their home in the last four months.
“Today there is a deficit in the housing sector, you can not build more social housing, because we have ready houses to deliver, but because of the subsidy issue they have not been released and there is no flow of resources to continue investing for the construction of more houses “ He assured.
The president of Canadevy said that 35 percent of Yucatecan workers need the federal subsidy to complete the amount of their housing credit, but 65 percent need it because it exceeds the minimum limit of 2.6 salaries established by the subsidy standard .
Pending bag “We are waiting for the federal government to distribute the bag of the 400 million subsidy to social housing, therefore, we do not know the amount that will correspond to Yucatan to reach the numbers we have had in past years that have It has been from 3 to 4 thousand homes that are delivered with this support annually, there is an inventory but they can not be delivered” he said.
Medina stressed that they have shown the authorities the urgency of the distribution of the subsidy that was announced in January, but it is something small, and a permanent solution needs to happen.
