Mérida mayor Renán Barrera Concha and his wife Diana Castillo Laviada, president of the municipal DIF, accompanied by their children Renán and Daniela, celebrated Family Day with a morning walk that departed from Paseo de Montejo to the monument to the Fatherland, last weekend.
-As a basis of our society the family has a fundamental role in the community, and in the administration that I preside we give priority to activities like today’s, in which we celebrate the family values that distinguish the Meridanos -expressed the mayor.
In the “Walk for the Family”, event organized by the DIF, dozens of Merida families participated, who enjoyed the Sunday walk along with the mayor and his family.
“The Family Day, celebrated in Mexico on the first Sunday of March, is also a reason to enjoy Mérida as the friendly and functional city that is considered one of the best places to live in our country. “declared the Mayor while strolling along Pseo de Montejo.
He emphasized that these type of activities contribute to the promotion of healthy habits among the population.
He added that Mérida stands out as the best city in Mexico, precisely because it is based on family values that allow society to stay safe and have the best quality of life in the country, which contributes to strengthening the community.
It is worth mentioning that this year the “Red Construyendo Familias Program”, of the Municipal DIF, will assist some 500 families, which will allow Mérida residents to participate in activities and talks among to reinforce ties free of violence and generate healthier homes that promote the common good.
In that sense Renán Barrera said that the City of Mérida is also working to generate awareness of family living in our city and proof of this is the high participation of citizens in events of this type.
The mayor also invited the public to enjoy free time as a family, taking advantage of the public spaces that are available across the city or actively participating in dynamics that strengthen family ties.
The activity also involved the participation of municipal directors and members of the civil group Vida en Familia (Vifac).
