As part of an Action Plan to address gender-based violence, the Government of Mexico is working on a cmpaign to create awareness of the situation.
“Violence against women and girls has increased dramatically,” said Olga Sánchez Cordero, secretary of the Interior, during the morning’s López Obrador conference at the National Palace on Wednesday March 6.
Sánchez Cordero, announced that in 2018, 3, 580 femicides were committed in the country; almost 9 women murdered every day.
“All of them are united by a common factor, the lack of timely attention from the State to preserve their safety and their lives,” said the Secretary of the Interior, recognizing that Mexico has disregarded violence against women.
The government of Mexico headed by Andrés Manuel López Obrador, presented an Action Plan that seeks to assume the problem, confront it with prevention and punishment, in order to eradicate the violence against women and girls in the country.
