The Geological service of the United States registered an earthquake of magnitude 5.1 off the coast of Honduras, early on Sunday, April 28, 2019. The earthquake had a radius of affectation of 250 kilometers, and there were reports saying that it was felt in Quintana Roo.
The epicenter was located at coordinates 16.739 ° North, 86.114 ° West, 10 kilometers deep. Security protocols for earthquake were activted in Honduras, and also in the state of Quintana Roo.
The State Civil Protection System of Quintana Roo reported that the security protocols went immeiately into effect, after a magnitude 5.1 earthquake was recorded with epicenter 66 kilometers northeast of Coxen Hole, the largest city on the island of Roatán, and the capital of the Bay Islands department of Honduras.
In a statement published on social networks, the state agency said that seismic vibrations were felt in some points of Quintana Roo, without affecting the state geography.
