Mérida, Yuc. Thursday April 18th.- An average of seven thousand passengers a day will be arriving at the international airport of the city of Merida “Manuel Crescencio Rejón”, during Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

In view of this situation, the number of security agents and airport staff in the air terminal was increased to provide a better service and greater agility for arrivals and departures.

The general manager of the Mérida Airport, Óscar Carrillo Maldonado, pointed out that in recent days, airlines reported all departures “sold out” during the Easter holiday period.

He specified that the largest movement of passengers begins to register on Thursday April 18, and concludes on Monday April 22, with an average of seven thousand passengers per day.

He indicated that the expectation during Holy Week is good. “With the numbers we’ve had during this first quarter, we expect to surpass those of last year, by at least 10 percent,” he noted.

Carrillo Maldonado recalled that during the Easter period of 2018, the airport handled an average of six thousand passengers per day on a regular weekend.

“We now have more air connectivity with the north of the country, including direct flights to cities such as Chihuahua, Hermosillo and Tijuana; These are not daily flights, but they are reaching a good occupation and having good response from passengers in northern Mexico, “he concluded.
