On the evening of Sunday April 7th, around 9:30 at night, a wooden pole literally broke and fell on top of some cars that were parked on Chicxulub’s Calle 14, in the municipality of Progreso.
The event was recorded on Calle 14 (between 23 and 21), when the wooden post suddenly broke, collapsed and fell on three vehicles, two cars and a SUV, that were parked there. The SUV, a Mitsubishi Montero, took the worst part, because its windshield and roof were totally destroyed.
Three transformers were placed on the pole, which spilled the liquid inside them, and the high voltage cables were strained, so municipal police officers immediately arrived at the site, to prevent anyone from approaching the vehicles, as the risk of electrocution was evident.
And finally, on Monday April 8 in the morning, the post was removed by personnel of the Federal Electricity Commission CFE, who were notified of the situation, but did not show up until 12 hours later.
One week ago, on Monday, April 1, works began to change most of the light posts of this community, precisely fearing this type of situation.
