CDMX May 7th.- Yucatecan journalist and news program host Carlos Loret de Mola, in his “El Universal” column said that a company that goes by the name of “Escudo del Caribe” was about to be benefitted with millionaire contracts for the sargassum clean-up operation, off the coasts of Quintana Roo.
But to this regard, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador clarified that companies will not be hired and it will be the Secretariat of the Navy that will lead the strategy to attack this problem.
“We are making use of the institutions we have, this is not about hiring a specialized company, if we have the Mexican Navy and we have expert technicians that will conduct the operation with more efficiency.” AMLO said.
In a press conference, the president said “Mexico has the naval bases, the Mexican Navy has first class technicians, technology, boats and even sophisticated planes to detect drugs inside boats, planes that fly at such a great height, that they are like satellites”.
Finally, AMLO said that there could be collaboration with certain companies and obviously with the Quintana Roo state government, but it will be the Mexican Navy the institution in charge of this operation.
