The constant clashes between motorcycle taxi drivers (MOTOTAXIS) and taxi operators in Tulum, Quintana Roo, have escalated significantly, and the situation gets more and more violent.
This is evident on a video that went viral on social networks which shows how a group of motorcycle taxi drivers set a taxi on fire at broad daylight, leaving the driver lying unconscious in the middle of the street.
The confrontation between taxi drivers of the Tiburones del Caribe union and Tulum’s Mototaxis left several damaged vehicles of both groups.
A severely injured person was also reported on the corner of Calle Geminis and Calle Okot, in Tulum’s Colonia Mayapax.
“One of my colleagues taxi drivers, was wounded with a machete by a mototaxi operator, in fact they wounded a passenger too,” a cab driver declares on the video.
