One more case of sexual abuse has been reported at the UADY, a student was touched and kissed without consent by another a teacher’s assistant, while in camp at Rio Lagartos.
The offender belongs to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics, and occurred on March 21, this year when students of Marine Biology made a field trip.
According to the victim, V.C.V., the events occurred while doing academic activities in Chiquilá, where he met D.V.C., who was driving one of the school vans.
The young man approached her and began to talk about his work as an assistant. Left alone for a moment, he convinced her to stay away from the others and offered her drugs.
Suddenly, he began touching and kissing her on different parts of her body without her consent.
The young woman asked him to stop, however, he continued to abuse her and did not let her go until other people arrived and she managed to escape to lock herself in his tent.
After the attack, the young woman filed a complaint and left a letter in the Campus of Biological and Agricultural Sciences principal’s office, where she couldn’t obtain a hearing until last Tuesday June 18th.
V.C.V. noted however, that the hearing was conducted in a most irregular way, as it was done in the presence of the aggressor, despite the fact that she asked the hearing to be conducted separately, because she felt uncomfortable in the presence of the alleged offender.
But the principal of the School of Biological and Agricultural Sciences, Hugo Delfín González, and a lawyer from the Uady ignored her request and told her that this way the conciliation procedures are carried out within this institution.
